The Director General of National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami FNCS, FBCS, FIIM. has been conferred with the Award of EXCELLENCE & Meritorious Service by the Network of Civil Society Organisations in Nigeria.
The accolade is in recognition of DG NITDA commitment in Information Technology Management, Development and Regulation, ICT Awareness Creation, Promotion of Good Governance, Credible and Transparent Leadership in NITDA.

DG NITDA Honoured with an International Trade Promotion, NiRA Presidential Awards.
Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim (Pantami), FNCS, FBCS, FIIM, MCPN, Director General Chief Executive Officer (DG/CEO) of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the Chief Information Officer of Nigeria, has during the week added two feathers to his cap as he was honoured with the ‘Advancing IT International Trade Award’ and ‘NiRA Presidential Award’. The two events, which were held at different fora in Lagos by the two organisations lauded Dr Pantami's contributions to the development of IT sector in Nigeria which they described as unparalleled.
The ‘Advancing IT International Award’ which was bestowed on him at the Nigeria Export Summit Awards 2019 held on Wednesday 3rd July, 2019 at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island Lagos, according to the organiser, was in recognition of his contributions in encouraging local production and manufacture of Information Technology components in a competitive manner in order to generate foreign earnings, create jobs and provide enabling environment that facilitates private sector's involvement in the IT sector and attracts Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into the economy.
Similarly, the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA), the body responsible for the management of the country’s code Top Level Domain (.ng), on Friday 5th July, 2019 conferred on Dr Pantami the ‘NiRA Presidential Award’. The award, according to the Association, was in recognition of his "Invaluable Contributions" to the growth of the Nigeria's ICT sector and promotion of the .ng brand and national identity on the Internet.
NITDA, in recent time, has intensified campaign on the adoption of .ng domain name especially among the public institutions. This effort has led to a significant leap of Nigeria’s ranking in Cyberspace.

DG NITDA Wins Special Recognition Award

A typical example of an individual writing his name in gold could be best described with the Chief Information Technology Officer of Nigeria (CITO), Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami FNCS, FBCS, FIIM who in the last two years has won several accolades both home and abroad, in recognition of the CITO's efforts in implementing the Mandate of the Nation’s IT regulatory body, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA). Upon his appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR as the Director General of NITDA, which by default makes the DG, the CITO of Nigeria, Dr Pantami came with a clear vision to sanitise the system and get it back on track.
It is no surprise that both the Number one and two citizens of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR), and Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo (GCON), on different occasions have commended the efforts NITDA is playing to develop and regulate Nigeria’s ICT Sector effectively.
In the words of the Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir-El Rufai last year, during NITDA’s Digital Service Promotion Award Night, El- Rufai said, “ as part of the administration that created NITDA, I am very proud that some 18 years after its conception, it is finally achieving its said objectives under the able and brilliant leadership of Dr Panatmi”. It is on this backdrop that Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA), the managers of the .ng, the country code Top Level Domain(ccTLD) name, conferred the NiRA PRESIDENTIAL AWARD to the DG NITDA, in recognition of the DG's invaluable contributions to the growth of Nigeria's ICT Sector and promotion of the .ng brand though NITDA’s switch to .gov.ng campaigns to all government levels.
The accolade was presented to Dr Pantami during the NiRA’s 2019 .ng Award night held in Lagos, Nigeria., and was received by the Director, Corporate Planning and Strategy Department of NITDA, Dr Agu Collins Agu, on behalf of the DG.

Ona of Abaji Commends DG NITDA for Outstanding Leadership
The Chairman of the FCT Council of Traditional Rulers, His Royal Majesty (HRM), Ona of Abaji, Alhaji Adamu Baba Yunusa, MFR has commended the transformational leadership of the Director General, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami FNCS, FBCS, FIIIM.
His Royal Majesty made this known today while making his remarks during an official visit to the Agency’s Corporate Head office, Abuja.
The Royal father was at NITDA to explore possible areas of collaboration that is aimed at deepening the growth of ICT in the various FCT Councils and also made a case for the consideration of the indigenes of Abuja in the Agency’s Scholarship Scheme.
In his response, the Director General of NITDA, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, FNCS, FBCS, FIIM, thanked the Emir for the applaud, stressing that it is a motivation to do more.
Dr Pantami said that, "there is no discrimination in NITDA, FCT is considered as a State", adding that the Agency’s Scholarship Scheme and Intervention Projects are in line with the principles of Federal Character.

NITDA Rewards Outstanding ABU Students
Assuming its role as the IT Developer and Regulator in Nigeria, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), presented Letter of Commendations, Tablet PCs and Internet Dongles to the Nigerian students from ABU Zaria that emerged 3rd place among the top three winners in the Global Final of Huawei ICT Competition held recently in China.
The Letter and ICT gadgets were officially presented by the Chief Information Technology Officer of Nigeria, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami FNCS, FBCS, FIIM, in a brief ceremony held today at the Agency’s Corporate Head Office, Abuja.
In his remarks, Dr Pantami urged the Students to always think outside the box and aspire to be job providers and not job seekers, stressing that job opportunities in Nigeria are competitive, as Government alone cannot be the sole employer of labour.
The DG urged the undergraduates to emulate the likes of Jeffrey Preston Bezos, CEO, of Amazon.com, an American technology entrepreneur who failed severally but never gave up and today ranks among the top billionaires in the world.

Nigerians are very talented with revolutionary ideas – DG NITDA
Statistic shows that about 65% of Nigerians are aged 35 years or younger and they are mostly considered to be millennials, a highly skilled tech savvy generation, the Director General, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami has said.
Dr Pantami made this assertion today during his keynote address at the 2018-2019 Huawei Nigeria ICT Competition Award and 2019 -2020 Launch Ceremony held at Sheraton Hotel, Abuja.
The DG expressed satisfaction with the role Huawei Technologies is playing in the development of human capacity in the country, maintaining that government alone cannot fully cater for the ICT needs of the entire nation.
Dr Pantami also used the opportunity to congratulate the Nigerian students from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria who emerged 3rd place among the top three winners in the Global Final of Huawei ICT Competition held in China recently.
The highlight of the day was the official signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between NITDA and Huawei Technologies to launch ICT Academy, which is aimed at supporting NITDA's digital capacity building and equipping youths with the right skill set that would prepare them for future work in a digital economy.

FutureHack: NITDA hunts for tech innovation in Academia.
As part of the effort to foster the growth of Nigeria's ICT Innovation and Entrepreneurship Ecosystem, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) through its special purpose vehicle, the Office for ICT Innovation and Entrepreneurship (OIIE), organised a two day hackathon tagged Futurehack for the North Central region of Nigeria.
The programme which was held at Nile University, Abuja is the first in the series of 3 editions, the next edition is scheduled to hold at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (ABU) on 8th and 9th July for the North West Region, 22nd and 23rd st Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) for the South West Region. The programme is expected to hold in all the six Geopolitical Zones of the country.
In his remarks, the Chief Host/ Director General of NITDA, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami FNCS, FBCS, FIIM urged the youths to think critically and come up with promising ideas that could be nurtured by the Agency and translate them into marketable solutions.
Dr Pantami stated that the main objective of the FutureHACK is to encourage Students, Youths in the ICT related fields to think out of the box and innovate local solutions and revolutionary ideas that could address various challenges faced in the society.
The major highlight of the day was the presentation of Certificates and Cash prices to participating innovators who pitched their solutions to the gathering.
